Power of Jesus’ Blood

Bible Verses: John 19:31-37

A short essay of my grand father-in-law touched my heart so deeply, and made me to think about the meaning of blood of Jesus ever so deeply this past Easter.  He wrote in his essay:  I was going through a surgery and I needed tons of blood.  Without the supply of blood, I could not survive through.  Then, I realized that money could not buy a life but only blood could extend life.  Being Christian for all my life, but for the very first time, I whole-heartedly confessed, “Oh that’s what Jesus did.  He shed all of His blood to extend my life eternally.”

Easter Reflection on what we should do-1 Thessalonians 5:1-24

For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. Now we ask you, brothers, to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone. Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else. Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Do not put out the Spirit’s fire; do not treat prophecies with contempt. Test everything. Hold on to the good. Avoid every kind of evil. May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

When you are weary and burdened- Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

Psalms 121 – Powerful Verses to start Quiet Times

I lift up my eyes to the hills– where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip– he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you– the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm– he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

Morning Prayer- Dietrich Bonhoeffer

MORNING PRAYER

O God, early in the morning I cry to you. Help me to pray And to concentrate my thoughts on you: I cannot do this alone. In me there is darkness, But with you there is light; I am lonely, but you do not leave me; I am feeble in heart, but with you there is help; I am restless, but with you there is peace. In me there is bitterness, but with you there is patience; I do not understand your ways, But you know the way for me… Restore me to liberty, And enable me to live now That I may answer before you and before me. Lord, whatever this day may bring, Your name be praised. – Dietrich Bonhoeffer

The Lord is my Shepherd- Psalm 23

Psalm 23: Amazing and comforting…
1.  The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2.  He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3.  he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4.  Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5.  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6.  Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Matthew 5: Blessed are…

1.  Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him,
2.  and he began to teach them, saying:
3.  “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4.  Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
5.  Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
6.  Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
7.  Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
8.  Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
9.  Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
10.  Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11.  “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
12.  Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
13.  “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.
14.  “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
15.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
16.  In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Greetings to all

Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.(2Peter 1:2)

We sometimes don’t realize the peace comes through the knowing God and Jesus our Lord. We often look for knowledge of God but sometimes feel that we DON’T have the abundant peace in our hearts. If we have knowledge of God and abundant peace, I wonder what kind of life it will be like. I long to live in an abundant peace… I want to be able to say this blessing to others also….

Greater Love – a challenge

“Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends(John 15:3).

I get challenged from this verse. I sometimes wonder if there is anyone in this world that I would be willing to die for. Of course, the people who comes closest are my wife and kids. The challenge is whether I can or am willing to die for others, even strangers. Yet there are many who are willing… Greater love is indeed my willingness to sacrifice…starting with very small things like giving my time and resources to the needy.
