“My heart rejoices in the Lord; in the Lord my horn is lifted high. My mouth boasts over my enemies, for I delight in our deliverance. There is no one holy like the Lord; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God…..The Lord sends poverty and wealth; he humbles and he exalts. He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor. For the foundations of the earth are the Lord’s; upon them he has set the world….. He will give strength to his king and exalt the horn of his anointed.”
This is Hannah’s song of praise and thanksgiving to God. This song has sometimes been termed the “Magnificat of the OT” because it is so similar to the Magnificat of the NT(Mary’s song, Luke 1:46-55). This prayer shows that the supreme source of Hannah’s joy is not in the child, but in the God who has answered her prayer.
How may times has my God answered my prayers? Big and small, countless times, He answered to my prayers. Yet, I have not given Him earnest song of praise and thanksgiving which never ceases. I am just finishing up a chapter of my life (For yesterday was my younger son’s High School graduation.). Now, for another one of my life’s chapter, I shall work toward making ultimate song of praise and thanksgiving to our(together with my better half that He appointed to me) awesome God. And this chapter I presume will be a never ending one, for the song will be never ending even after we meet our Lord in heaven. Thank you Lord, my Joy, my Rock, my Deliverer.
